Professional Standards
  
All aspects of Severn Partnership’s operations are governed by the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyor’s (RICS) overarching values.

Adherence to these defines the professionalism of all chartered and technical surveyors and members are expected to measure all their actions and judgements against them.

Additional core personal values we adhere to are:-
 
•   Always be honest. Be trustworthy in all that you do – never deliberately mislead, whether by withholding or distorting information.
•   Be open, and transparent in your dealings. Share the full facts with our customers, making things as plain and intelligible as possible.
•   Be accountable for all your actions. Take full responsibility for your actions, and don’t blame others if things go wrong.
•   Know and act within your limitations. Be aware of the limits of your competence and don’t be tempted to work beyond these. Never commit to more than you can deliver.
•   Be objective at all times. Give fair neutral advice, and never let your own feelings or interests cloud your judgment.
•   Set a good example. Remember that both your public and private behaviour could affect your own, RICS’ and other members’ reputations.
•   Have the courage to make a stand. Be prepared to act if you suspect a risk to safety or malpractice of any sort.
   
These values are constantly adapted to reflect changes in society’s expectations of the profession and differences in cultural norms, but are never compromised or diluted.

RICS expects member companies such as Severn Partnership to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of these principles and to show a commitment to meet these ethical standards and maintain the integrity of the profession.

All Directors at Severn Partnership are Chartered Surveyors and are also Corporate Members of the Institute of Civil Engineering Surveyors (ICES) which promotes similar standards of conduct.

All Senior Surveyors within Severn Partnership are currently working towards Chartership and or membership of the ICES.

In our opinion, these levels of professional assurance are second to none in the surveying industry.

Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors Rules of Conduct for Firms

Conduct Of Business
  
1   Integrity: A firm shall at all times act with integrity and avoid conflicts of interest and any actions or situations that are inconsistent with its professional obligations.
2   Competence: A firm shall carry out its professional work with due skill, care and diligence and with proper regard for the technical standards expected of it.
3   Service: A firm shall carry out its professional work with expedition and with proper regard for standards of service and customer care expected of it.
4   Training: A firm shall have in place the necessary procedures to ensure that all its staff are properly trained and competent to do their work.
5   Complaints Handling: A firm shall operate a complaints handling procedure. The complains handling procedure must include a redress mechanism that is approved by the regulatory board.
6   Customer’s Money: A firm shall preserve the security of customers’ money entrusted to its care in the course of its practice or business.
7   Professional Indemnity Insurance: A firm shall ensure that all previous and current professional work is covered by adequate and appropriate professional indemnity insurance cover, which meets the standards approved by the regulatory board.
Firm Administration
8   Advertising: A Firm shall promote its professional services only in a truthful and responsible manner.
9   Solvency: A Firm shall ensure that its finances are managed appropriately.
10   Arrangements to cover the incapacity or death of a sole practitioner: A Firm with has a sole principal (i.e. a sole practitioner or a sole director in a corporate practice) shall have in place appropriate arrangements in the event of that sole principals death or incapacity or other extended absences.
11   Use of Designations: A Firm registered for regulation must display on its business literature in accordance with the regulatory board’s published policy on designations, a designation to denote that it is regulated by RICS.
12   Information to RICS: A Firm shall submit in a timely manner such information about its activities, and in such form, as the regulatory board may reasonably require.
13   Co-operation: A Firm shall co-operate fully with RICS staff and any person appointed by the regulatory board.
