The Severn Partnership has produced a large number of high accuracy survey solutions for Geotechnical Engineers over the past two decades. These have been achieved using a combination of survey techniques and equipment depending on specific job requirements. HDS Laser scan and reflectorless total station measurements have been used to collect data in remote, dangerous and inaccessible sites, and this has been combined with GPS and EDM datasets to provide clients with a complete site survey. Several recent projects have combined laser scan, RTK and EDM surveys to produce detailed models of railway cuttings, which were then used to generate sections. The surveyors at Severn Partnership are used to working alongside engineers and tailoring the survey requirements to meet the needs of our clients. In 2006 Severn Partnership used a Leica HDS 3000 to survey a series of complex rock cut tunnels to facilitate geotechnical analysis and produce sections to determine train clearance. This data allowed the engineers to determine the most appropriate method for repairing and maintaining the tunnel. Severn Partnership has performed landfill surveys in England and Ireland for specialist environmental companies. This has included the 3D mapping of seepage locations and volume analysis work to establish landfill levels. Example uses of our survey data include:
